Making real money online is certainly linked to having a responsive opt in email list. A responsive list mostly comes from having built a solid relationship with your subscribers over time. You know what your list wants and you have provided it. Good.
People generally warm more to you if they know you and can trust you. If people trust you then they are more than likely to respond better to you.
It is a well known fact that visitors to websites take about 7 – 10 exposures to make a purchase. In other words they are unlikely to make a purchase on their first visit. One possible reason is that when they first arrive at your website they may not know you at all. They may wonder if they can trust you or not. How do you get around this? You need to assure them that you can be trusted to deliver on your promises. Provide bonuses, a product guarantee or that you will not sell their email address. No Gimmicks please! You must keep your promise. No harm if you over deliver on your promises.
Now if you are offering something for free to get them to give their name and address then they can try you out. See if you are “real”. This is your opportunity to show them you are.
Use your autoresponder to send out relationship building messages. Each message must be carefully crafted to achieve this all important purpose. Resist the impulse to sell in each email or worse still to hype up your product recommendations – free or paid.
Take the relationship building further by providing your list with valuable and relevant information that will help them achieve their online goals. They benefit and so do you. Ensure you try out the products you recommend to your list. Your reputation is on the line. Give reviews. Don’t be afraid to say what in your expert opinion is good or not so good about a particular product. Dare I say, be honest. Your list will reward you for it.
By the time you have established a solid and meaningful relationship with your email list you will begin to make repeat income from your list. I know of a marketer whose subscribers asked him for his affiliate link to a certain product because they just wanted to buy from him only. They wanted to put the money in his pockets. This is the sort of relationship you are aiming for.
Pay attention to relationship building with your list and you could be the next marketer to enjoy such a fruitful experience.
The money is in the list but you will only get this money if you establish a good relationship with your email list. Otherwise you are simply running a Hit and Run business online.
