I am going to go through some of the very important steps
in building a list that will be crucial to your internet
marketing success. Many people forget to do this very
important step and set there business up for failure.

You may be thinking that you first need to register a
domain before you can start building a list, but I am going
to tell you that you are very wrong.

The very first step in building your list building business
that you need to do is niche market and keyword research.
Let us look at the definition of a niche market. A niche
market is a market small enough that a very big company
will not want to enter as the volume of sales will not be
big enough for it to justify entering the market. This kind
of market is ideal for a small home based internet
business.

I suggest that you choose something that you are an expert
in or something that you are very interested in. The
reasons for this is that you will be working on the idea
for a very long time and it must be something that you
like.

Once you have found a niche market that you are interested
in you need to do keyword research. The reason for this is
that most people will start looking for something by
searching on search engines. So you have to do your
homework on niche markets that will generate enough
interest to be successful.

So for example if you are interested in fish you may check
to see how many times sword fish is searched on a free
keyword suggestion tool like Overture. I suggest you stay
away from single keywords as these are too competitive.
Rather stick to two to four keyword terms. Once you have
found a search term that is popular without too much
competition you are ready to proceed to the next step of
list building.
