Online Marketing Success - Good Follow Up Messages

A crucial aspect of e-mail marketing is knowing how to create follow up messages in your autoresponder. Focus on is building your relationship with your list and you’ll find that your list building experience becomes very rewarding.

Don’t initially think of selling first. Think “Pre-sell.” Before anything is sold, you have to establish yourself as a reliable source.

1. Your first message in the sequence should not advertise anything. We’re getting in the mindset of building a relationship right? Don’t sell anything with your first message.

1. The first message in your sequence should always be an introduction! You want to make it clear exactly what it is you’re trying to achieve. If you don’t state it, your reader will decide what it is (and it probably won’t be positive!).

SIMPLE TRUTH:
Having an introduction letter will separate yourself from your competition, let them know who are and what you’re trying to do.

2. Follow up messages should include something useful. One thing people often use in follow up messages is useful content or articles. Some people give out more exclusive reports and other things. The main thing is that it has to be useful. Your list has to recognize your e-mail as a source of useful information, giving them incentive to check on what you’re doing!

Once you get into the habit of writing, creating articles is very easy.

As an alternative to writing, there are also many free articles that you can use for your follow up messages in your autoresponder. Here are some places:

“goarticles”

“EzineArticles.com”

“365articles”

“submityourarticle”

People often submit articles for people to use as content in their publications. They just want to make sure that their articles are left in tact and that their contact information is there.

3. Affiliate products often come with their own articles. The products you promote often come with their own articles for promotion. You can use these also in your follow up messages.

4. The point of the follow up messages is to introduce something in every series. Every series should introduce a new product. Don’t introduce several products in one series, it’s too confusing!

5. Make sure you decide your interval style. In your autoresponder, you can decide how many days apart you want your messages to appear. There are two common interval styles on the internet, both being successfully used by different marketers.

RAPID FIRE STYLE: There are marketers that send messages one after another. So you could possibly receive a message from them everyday. Some people even send twice a day. I wouldn’t recommend this for certain niche markets that aren’t used this kind of marketing style. For instance, I wouldn’t use this on a list that’s interested in buying flowers! However, niches interested in online marketing seem to tolerate it better, because they’re used to this type of aggressive marketing.

SPACED STYLE: Some marketers like to send out one or two messages a week, sometimes 3 messages a week and then wait 1 1-2 or 2 weeks before resuming. This is also highly effective, if used correctly. When used correctly, people on the list begin to anticipate and wait for the messages.

What these two styles have in common, is that they’re both consistent. As long as you have a product to send over, you should be sending something.

To your success!
